The Vineyard: The vineyard underwent its first planting in 2006 as a 1 acre test plot. The following year, 7 more acres were added. Since then, there have been replacements of injured vines and an additional 2 acre planting. Slow continual phased growth of cold hardy, disease resistant varities best for our area is our goal. Grapes grown on-site include both white and red varieties.
-White varieties: Frontenac Gris, St. Pepin, Traminette, Vidal Blanc
-Red Varieties: Corot Noir, Frontenac, Marquette, Noiret
-Additional grapes purchased to augment our harvest are Chardonnay, Viognier, and Cabernet Franc
The Orchard: The orchard is comprised of 2 acres of apple trees. The initial trees were grafted three generations ago and we have had new plantings every year for the past few years. Older varieites are Rhode Island Greening and Jonagold. New plantings were sought out due to their superiority for hard cider. All apple trees on our farm are treated with organic growing practices and a low spray pest control program which results in a slow growing, complex flavored apple and hence a superior hard cider. We have purchased some local Ohio grown apples for our intial production while our plantings mature into productive trees.
-Apple varieties: Rhode Island Greening, Jonagold, Kinston Black, Russett, Dabinett
-Apples purchased to augment our harvest are Grimes Golden, Yellow Delicious, Winter Banana, Mutsu, Red Delicious, Gold Rush, and Winesap
